Our Mission, Vision & Values

Our School Vision is based on the same theological roots as our Values, where everyone is

nurtured as an individual so that through faith, they are empowered to achieve their God-given potential and make outstanding progress.

At Goring, we embed a culture where love for all of God’s creation is evident and where children are placed firmly at the centre of everything we do. Every member of our school is special, unique and valued equally as a child of God. We are created in His image and He gifts us with talents so that we can aspire to be deliberately distinctive, to flourish and make a positive difference to our school, local community and to our wider world.

Everyone is encouraged to ‘look up’ and ‘look out’, beyond themselves, to develop empathy and ask deep questions.  We are also challenged to ‘look in’ and to be the best we can be academically, personally and socially.  As a result, learning experiences help us to strengthen our sense of self-worth.

Through subject-led and skills based learning, we place an emphasis on ‘wow’ experiences for our children, where they can make cross-curricular links to learning supported by quality texts, technology and engaging first-hand experiences.

We inspire children to be happy, respectful, safe and to be the very best versions of themselves, through encouragement, love and high aspiration.

“Our Lord is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path” Pslam 119:105

Statement of Entitlement

“Religious education in a Church school should enable every child to flourish and to live life in all its fullness. (John 10:10). It will help educate for dignity and respect encouraging all to live well together.”

This quote is taken from Church of England Vision for Education ‘Deeply Christian, Serving the Common Good’ (The Church of England Education Office, 2016).

At Goring CE Primary School, we ensure that we fully meet the requirement of The Statement of Entitlement.  This outlines the entitlement of all children who attend church schools so that they receive a high quality curriculum for Religious Education, supporting them in all aspects of their learning.

  • To educate
  • To nurture
  • To serve the community
  • To develop children’s faith and spirituality
  • To be inclusive
  • To improve life outcomes
  • To develop children’s life and learning skills
  • To develop morals and principles

Our Vision

To be a Church of England Primary School that: -

  • nurtures each individual as a whole person to enable them to achieve their God given potential and to make outstanding progress (Faith).
  • as a community demonstrates love and respect for all of God’s creation (Love).
  • provides an exciting, broad and ambitious curriculum that equips learners for the future (Learning).

Our Values

RESPECT - ASPIRATION - FAITH - FUN - LOVE - EQUALITY - SELF-WORTH

Our Values are embedded through our mission statement, created with the children, to:

Be respectful, be safe and be your best.

The values we explore with the children are evidenced and lived out daily through praise, recognition, celebration and positive encouragement. They shape the relationships we have with others, the teaching we deliver and how we live.

We learn how to be Respectful and consider the needs of others before ourselves.  We instill Aspiration and aim high in everything we do, reflecting God’s calling for us to be distinctive.  We share and grow in our Faith and Love for God and for one another, so that everyone is valued for who they are. We have Fun in our learning and this permeates through the many opportunities we encourage. We demonstrate Equality and the learning experiences we create encourage our understanding of Self-Worth.

Children receive special mentions through our class “values hearts”, house points, and our weekly Values Award and Celebration Worship, which are attended and treasured by families.
